How to Build a Balcony Garden

If your Belgrade rental house has a balcony or patio but not much yard space, you can still satisfy your green thumb and grow your very own garden. A balcony garden can be a great way for renters to bask in nature – with or without a yard! Using a few tips and tricks, you can transform your balcony and patio into a surely enjoyable space for everyone!

Choose Containers

One of the easiest ways to start a balcony garden is to get a large freestanding container, window planter, or railing planter. If your balcony allows for hanging containers on the railing, you can start on your garden project with even just a few containers.

Potted Perfection

Another alternative for your balcony garden is to use multiple pots in various sizes. Group pots together to create pleasant greenery displays, use plant stands, or line them up along a wall or railing to surround yourself with color. Different colors and styles of pots can do a lot to deliver a more colorful experience for your garden. There is no incorrect way of using pots for your garden on the balcony.

Balcony Blooms

Use your favorite flower or color to influence which plants and pots or containers will be placed on your balcony! For instance, something like a rose garden. Multiple varieties of roses work well in pots and containers and can produce gorgeous blooms all season long.

Go Vertical

Should your balcony be small in size, you can still make good use of the vertical space by creating a garden oasis. Hanging planters are a terrific way to add color and greenery at eye level. Or, invest in some tiered plant stands to create a multi-level display for your garden plants.

Make Watering a Snap

How you set up your balcony garden isn’t the end goal; you’ll need a good plan to keep your plants growing by watering them regularly. If your garden has a variety of plants, contemplate investing in a large watering can or even a simple drip system. This allows watering plants to be more efficient and effective.

Add Extra Shade

There are plants that will wilt under extreme heat. So, if you have a balcony that’s sunny, make sure to add extra shade! All plants need sunshine to thrive, but too much sun can burn foliage and even kill young plants. Think of adding a lattice or sunshade to keep your balcony garden cool during the hottest part of the day.

A few supplies and some great ideas are all it takes to make that balcony garden a beautiful reality for your rental house.
